Julie Lelonek is a Marketing and Business Engagement Specialist with a joint appointment with Iowa’s Cultivation Corridor and the Office of Economic Development and Industry Relations at Iowa State University. Lelonek brings a wide range of outreach and impact efforts experience to her current role having worked in positions with Iowa State and the Iowa State University Research Park all told for over twelve years. Most recently, she served as the dean’s administrative assistant in the Iowa State College of Business where, in addition to supporting the dean, she also deployed college communications on the dean’s behalf and managed a number of major college events and the college’s review processes for grants and awards. Preceding Iowa State appointments included working in the Department of Biochemistry Biophysics and Molecular Biology and on the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, where she assisted with communications, created collateral materials for seminars and conferences, and managed of a number of processes. Other past Iowa State assignments included assisting the Principal Investigator with the compilation and submissions of grant proposals and editing/formatting a 21-chapter book on plant metabolomics research. She is a native of Davenport, Iowa and graduate of St. Ambrose University with a bachelor’s in Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations. She has three grown children who have all gone to Iowa Regents schools. Lelonek and her husband Pete, also a long-time Iowa State employee, live in Ames.
