Today, Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation declaring March 10-16 as “Agriculture Innovation in Iowa” week. I had the honor of attending the signing along with representatives Iowa Pork, Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Technology Association of Iowa, Iowa Biotechnology Association, Iowa Business Council, Iowa Association of Business and Industry, Young Professionals in Agriculture, as well as a number of agribusiness professionals, representatives of Iowa’s start-up and entrepreneur ecosystem, and economic development leaders.
Iowa’s agricultural leadership is rooted in a strong and proud tradition, but our continued success depends on a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship and the constant introduction of new ideas and new technologies.
Now more than ever, America’s Cultivation Corridor is where you should be if you are looking to make a difference in agriculture. From career opportunities in a diverse range of industries to a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem and progressive farmers and livestock producers ready to embrace new ideas, it is all here in Iowa.
Since joining America’s Cultivation Corridor as executive director a year ago, I’ve been impressed over and over and over again with the high and continuous level of innovation occurring in our companies both large and small across Iowa. No other state in our country has the level of diversification in agriculture where each sector has strong start-ups making a difference. These innovators will continue to put Iowa 1st in class globally.
Innovation comes in many forms and impacts and inspires each of us in different ways. Join me this week in celebrating Agricultural Innovation in Iowa. Share your story on social media and congratulate those who are helping America’s Cultivation Corridor continue to innovate, lead, feed and fuel the world.
