Mike Swesey leads the Economic Development team of the Greater Des Moines Partnership (GDMP) focusing on national marketing and relationship development, prospective new company site selection and development services, structuring economic development incentives and ensuring Greater Des Moines is a competitive location to do business.
Mike has been with the Partnership for 23 years. Prior to joining GDMP, he worked for the Iowa Department of Economic Development in finance and marketing roles and for the City of Norwalk as Economic Development Director. He currently serves on various boards including America's Cultivation Corridor, Mid-Iowa Planning Association, and the Urban Recreational District of the Avenues. Previously he served on the MidAmerica Economic Development Council Board of Directors (2014-19), the YMCA Supportive Housing Board of Directors (2014-16) and St. Anthony school board of directors (2011-16).
Mike is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Urban Planning.
