Dr. Martin Haverly

Director, R&D and Innovation Chevron Renewable Energy Group

Martin Haverly has over 10 years of experience developing new technologies and driving innovation in the renewable fuels industry. He currently serves as Director, R&D and Innovation where he is responsible for the development of new technologies for production and utilization of renewable fuel technologies while also building capabilities to accelerate innovation throughout the Chevron Renewable Energy Group business unit.

Dr. Haverly began his career at Renewable Energy Group in 2016 as part of the Process Development Engineering team. During his time with the business, he has led teams to create value in the organization through deploying new technologies, providing production technical support, stewarding the innovation program he founded and engaging with outside parties such as customers and policymakers to foster growth and adoption of lower carbon fuels.

Outside of work, Dr. Haverly enjoys spending time primarily outdoors, with his family, is an active member in his local church and volunteers in a variety of capacities that align with his passion for sustainability and youth engagement.

Dr. Haverly holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Biorenewable Resources and Technology as well as a Masters of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. While at Iowa State, Dr. Haverly conducted award-winning research, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and major energy corporations, on renewable fuel production technologies. He received his Bachelor of Science from Dordt University in Sioux Center, IA.
