Executive Vice President
Derek’s business acumen and fearless devotion to the firm have allowed him to serve in a strategic capacity since opening ISG’s Des Moines office in 2014. With a direct understanding of the need for contextual design-based principles and an empathetic mindset when developing relationships, Derek emphasizes ISG’s key competitive advantages while directly supporting employee owner growth in his role as Executive Vice President.
As a former senior municipal engineer, Derek’s intimate industry and firm knowledge is also directly supported by a unique perspective to project partnerships and pursuits. His diverse experience providing design services for partners in both the public and private sector is a significant asset as he guides ISG’s services and solutions. With an infectious personality and visionary mindset, Derek also adds value to overall firm direction serving on the Board of Directors. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University. He volunteers at MATHCounts, Ankeny Stream Cleanup, Iowa League of Cities, and both the Iowa State University and DMACC Career Fair and Partnership Lead.
