Ag Startup Engine closes $7 million seed fund

AMES, IA (March 12, 2026) – Ag Startup Engine, an early-stage venture firm focused on technologies across the agriculture and food value chain, has closed its third fund, a $7 million seed fund.

The fund builds on Ag Startup Engine’s mission of bridging the gap between innovation and real-world agricultural adoption, the firm said in a news release. Focused on capital-efficient, scalable companies, the fund supports founders building practical solutions to agriculture’s most pressing challenges. Ag Startup Engine, or ASE, has already invested in six companies through the new fund.

Unlike traditional venture funds, ASE’s investor base is composed entirely of industry leaders and strategic partners from across the agricultural value chain.

“Agtech requires more than financial capital; it requires industry alignment,” said Mikayla Mooney, partner at Ag Startup Engine, in a prepared statement. “We’re proud that every investor in this fund comes directly from the agricultural industry. That brings our founders more than funding. It creates real commercialization pathways and long-term partnerships.”
