Diverse feedstocks, new cropping systems and ground-breaking processing technologies are all elements of the work underway in Iowa to sustainably grow the supply of renewable fuels in the U.S. and around the world.

America’s Cultivation Corridor recently hosted the “Ethanol to Sustainable Aviation Fuels: Advances in Renewable Fuels Innovation,” panel discussion as part of its Insights to Innovation webinar series. Moderated by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, the event framed innovation in renewable fuels as a catalyst for economic growth as well as providing opportunities for farmers and communities.

The discussion featured Paul Nees, Global Book Lead, Renewables & Carbon, Chevron Supply & Trading; Kendall Palmer, Senior Director, Biofuels, Corteva Agriscience; and Lisa Schulte Moore, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Life Sciences and Co-Director, Bioeconomy Institute, Iowa State University.

“Nature has always survived on a robust bioeconomy and we think that we still have things to learn from nature that we can use to help improve our human systems in delivering food, energy products and associated services,” said Dr. Schulte Moore.
